Dreamy pastel beach family photo session
One windy afternoon, I had the pleasure of photographing this fun-loving family at the beach on Auckland’s north shore. This family enjoys spending their free time on the water so it was decided that the beach was the best location for their session. Their lovely mum has been wanting to have me take their family photos for some time, so it was wonderful to make it happen.
A lifestyle photo session is an opportunity to slow down and remember and celebrate what is truly most important – your special people. This is especially timely in December when most people are feeling a little (or a lot) frazzled with all the demands of end of year school, extra curricular, sporting and work events, Christmas shopping and holiday planning.
With all we have going on in our lives, it is easy to say we will “get around to having family photos taken when things are quieter” but that time may never come – or by the time it does come, years may have passed by. Really, it is best to make the time and forget about the magical “perfect time” appearing.
Here is a little selection of images from their family session.
This session wouldn’t have been complete without Nonna and Poppa who play a very active role as the boys’ grandparents. As I get older, I have become very aware how important it is to have photos with the people who are extra special and loved in our lives – particularly grandparents. We need to have them in our photos showing how much we love, value and enjoy being with them and vice versa. As a photographer, I feel privileged to be able to create photos like these showing the relationship of the boys with their Nonna and Poppa.
So many laughs with this gorgeous crew who took all my directions and the crazy wind in good humour. To the H family, thank you for choosing me to document your family and your love and laughter. It was a pleasure to create these images and memories with you – a photo session is always a collaboration of minds and hearts and these beautiful images are a true reflection of that.
